A pictorial of Union Reservoir
Back in May we had a Retirement Party for Katie. At that party our new friends Renée and Michael met our other new friends Andrew and Allison. We all confirmed our love of camping, and proposed setting up a trip together. Renée followed through. On Friday June 22 we fit 9 people, 3 dogs and everybody's gear in 3 cars and drove to Union Reservoir.
The camping around the lake is deemed "dispersed" by the US Forest Service. It's free, too. The only trick is knowing where the hell it is.
This place is so far up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere, Google does not even acknowledge its existence in Map mode. Do you see the body of water in there anywhere?
In order to actually see it, you must switch over to Satellite mode....
There's the water!
**From here on out, the pictures in this post were taken by Allison, Andrew and Dylan. With so many great photographers in one place, I got to sit back and let them do all the work.**
We rolled the dice when putting this group of strangers (mostly) together. And to mix luck metaphors, we struck gold. Renée led us way out east in and up a mountain and found a huge camping site near the water. We set up in the dark. In this morning we found this:
Besides me, our group included: (in dorkiest alphabetical order):
Bright and early we got up and did a lot of this:

After breakfast we we went on one of these:

Dylan took advantage of one of our pit stops (
) and climbed up this:
Then, with an ample stock of this:

Some of us played
, some of us played
, and some of us became a song-writing team:
. We even had a visit from
. Pretty soon, we tapped into our pile of
. We spent the rest of the night enjoying plenty of this:
Very. Fun. Trip.

Great job with the post! I think the patch-work pictures communicate the spirit of the trip perfectly. Now all our friends can look on with jealousy at the fabulous time we shared. :)
This is easily my favorite post
What a great photo montage story. I loved it. Felt like I went there too! I didn't see your smiling face in your cast of characters! Did I miss it? can't wait to see our day at the races up in your blog. :-)
These pics are great! A picture truly is worth a thousand words...
